TEAM
Lauren founded Cause Capacity in 2016 after spending more than 15 years in the nonprofit and philanthropic space, while simultaneously running a specialty contracting business with her husband. So, she knows what it takes to start, run, and grow a business from the ground up. Lauren has done everything from setting up foundational documents and filing for a corporation and nonprofit status, to developing operational procedures and recruiting, and retaining staff. She also has a strong working knowledge of financial systems, controls, and accounting software.
During her career, Lauren had the unique experience of being the second person hired to lead start-up efforts for a $100 million foundation. She played a leadership role in scaling operations over a twelve-year period. Within this framework, Lauren led efforts to separate certain programmatic initiatives to form new legal entities, and implemented a dissolution plan to be triggered once the organization’s mission was complete. This work included managing staffing plans, transition milestones, change management, and communications through organizational dissolution.
Lauren holds a Bachelor’s Degree (B.A.) in Mass Communications from Menlo College where she graduated as class valedictorian. She is also an entrepreneur at heart having co-founded two San Francisco Bay Area companies: a construction company that she operates alongside her husband; and a nonprofit organization that provided more than $50,000 in capital grants to economically challenged female entrepreneurs.
Lauren serves clients across the U.S. and recently relocated from the SF Bay Area to a small town outside of Austin Texas. She enjoys spending time with her husband and two kids swimming and kayaking in area lakes and rivers.
